Which equipment and standards references clarify specifications?
Equipment documentation can identify components and proposal vocabulary. Standards issuer pages can identify a relevant topic, but a directory or purchase page does not prove that an installed unit conforms or that a repair establishes conformity.

What is the difference between a leveler, plate, and board?
A dock leveler is commonly a fixed bridging device mounted in a pit or at the dock edge. A dock plate or dock board is often portable, although workplace language varies. Record whether the unit is fixed, edge-mounted, or moved into position. That distinction is more useful than guessing from a nickname.
OSHA's dockboard terminology includes fixed and portable bridging equipment. Its rule addresses portable-dockboard securing at paragraph (c) and transport-vehicle movement at paragraph (d). The exact operating arrangement and exceptions matter.
How do sectional, rolling, and high-speed doors differ?
A sectional door uses connected panels traveling through tracks. A conventional rolling steel door uses interlocking slats or another curtain that coils around a barrel above the opening. A high-speed door is identified by its rapid-cycling design and may use flexible fabric or rigid panels.
Fire-rated rolling doors are not a fourth generic construction category; they are rated assemblies with release, closing, testing, and record questions that must be handled for the identified assembly. Manufacturer and authority documentation govern those questions.
Is a dock seal the same as a shelter?
No. A seal generally uses pads that compress around the backed trailer. A shelter generally uses side and head curtains around the trailer while allowing a broader opening. Damage descriptions should distinguish torn fabric, crushed foam, bent supports, missing bumpers, and poor fit.
What restraint types should records identify?
Common distinctions include hook-style or other rear-impact-guard engagement and wheel-based restraint. Status lights and controls communicate equipment state; dock illumination lights the work area. Record the indicated condition without bypassing controls or attempting a manual release.
Are additional downloadable assets available?
